In response to overwhelming demand (okay, at least Carlos missed my site being online), I am re-launching this blog. I took the site down a few months ago due to a combination of factors that included:
- lack of passion and vision for the site
- loss of interest in posting anything online, whether at my blog or otherwise
- family distractions and responsibilities that precluded blogging regularly
While these issues are far from being completely resolved, I have at least gained some clarity on the matter.
Most of the original posts will not be imported to this new site though I could do so with a few clicks since the old database is archived. The reality is that most of the posts on the old site were in the categories of family and religion. There is, of course, nothing wrong with posts in either category; however, practical considerations caused me to not wish to import these posts.
I once used my blog as a primary mechanism for keeping in touch with family and friends since I abhor phone calls (just ask my mother). Facebook has come to my rescue though as nearly every member of my family now uses Facebook, as do all of my close friends (yes, I do have a few). Consequently, it is redundant for me to blog about family news that I have already posted on Facebook.
I also wrote quite consistently on the subject of religion and Christianity. My intention now is to launch a new, dedicated site to explore Christianity – specifically the marriage of orthodoxy and orthopraxy. The new site will hopefully be a multi-author site with representation from multiple streams of Christianity. This will be much better than just my own ideas and perspectives on this great faith.
This is a blog though and, as such, I will certainly share my humble opinions on any number of topics of varying significance. I will probably even post some news about family and religion occasionally – just not as the main focus of the site since I now have other venues for those discussions. Most importantly, my good friend Carlos can quit asking when I am going to get the site back online! Consider it a Christmas present, Carlos! The blog is back (and thanks for the encouragement)!
