Escalante Desert Sunset
An amazing sunset - and moonrise - in the Escalante Desert.
The Escalante Desert in southwest Utah is a vast landscape with wide open expanses perfect for amazing sunsets. We spent a few days camped in this desert region during our fall migration south and were treated to this amazing sunset on our first evening.
We were in for a double treat though as it wasn't just the sunset that was spectacular on this evening. The moonrise to the east was also amazing!
It's hard to beat those occasions when the sun is setting just as the moon is rising. The only trouble is the risk of whiplash as one looks back and forth, east to west, not wanting to miss any of the show.
