The Pads is located on Highway 190 just miles from the entrance to Death Valley National Park. While the actual ownership of the land is not certain, this location is frequently used for free dispersed camping.

The Pads is named for the numerous concrete pads sprinkled along gravel roads throughout the site. There is speculation that The Pads was once a mobile home or RV park. There are no amenities, but the concrete pads do offer a convenient place to park.

Traffic noise is noticeable as The Pads is located immediately off Highway 190, but is less noticeable if you choose a spot further back from the road. There is no Verizon or AT&T signal at The Pads, but it does offer a convenient place to camp for free while visiting Death Valley National Park.
