Wupatki National Monument (2018)
Peer into the lives of ancient peoples at this collection of pueblo ruins in Arizona.

Wupatki National Monument is home to a number of ancient Pueblo ruins. Located north of Flagstaff on Highway 89, this site offers a mind-blowing experience for lovers of history and ancient civilizations. That any people could survive in this harsh landscape - and leave behind impressive buildings that would withstand hundreds of years of desert weather - is truly impressive.
We visited this site in June 2016, but it was unfortunately a short visit. In fact, we found Wupatki National Monument on accident - we had come to visit the adjacent Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument and happened to notice a sign for Wupatki National Monument. We would love to have explored a lot more, but the temperatures were already in the 90s that day and Debra had both of her dogs with her in the car.
Still, even with a short visit, this site provided an amazing peek into the lives of an ancient people.
